P&O Cruises collaborated with us to develop a personalised cruise search system inspired by users' favourite films and scenes. Using an advanced RAG search engine, this project aimed to deliver tailored cruise recommendations based on individual entertainment preferences, enhancing the customer experience.

Overview

To celebrate P&O Cruises partnership with the BAFTA Television Awards, we proposed a unique idea to elevate their customer experience by combining modern technology with the world of television. Our concept was to create a RAG search engine that could link P&O Cruises travel offerings with customers’ favourite TV series or scenes. The idea was to take advantage of P&O Cruises association with the BAFTA Television Awards and offer users a completely new way to explore cruises—through the lens of their favourite on-screen moments. P&O Cruises loved the concept and eagerly agreed to bring it to life.

The Solution

We developed a search functionality based on a modern engine that intuitively understands and interprets user preferences. This tool allowed users to search for cruise recommendations based on a TV series or even a particular scene, and the system would return destinations that mirrored or were inspired by the on-screen locations. Whether it was a series famous for its scenic settings or iconic moments, users were connected to cruises that travelled to similar or exact destinations.

For example, searching for a memorable scene from a TV series filmed in Croatia could lead to a Mediterranean cruise that includes Dubrovnik, a key filming location. The system’s deep understanding of cultural references allowed for engaging and personalised cruise suggestions, creating a unique and memorable user experience.

Results

During the four weeks the campaign ran, the search engine saw significant engagement:

  • 1,000+ searches performed
  • 230 unique shows searched

This innovative approach not only engaged existing customers but also attracted new audiences passionate about television, transforming the way users connected with travel through P&O Cruises.
